In this exercise the point is to determine where to use concrete test cases and where to use logical ones.

Scenario

An e-business selling CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray is overhauling its’ website. They are adding a new section to the website to enable customers to browse, sample, purchase and download songs / albums. The company are also keen to advertise that they meet various web standards (specifically ISO9126 for usability and BS7799 security standard).

The company is also re-branding the entire website – a change of corporate logo and color scheme. The existing functionality is well established and is working well, and, functionally, will remain as is.

You are an experienced tester working in the company’s system test team. The company has defined some requirements for the new functionality but has minimal requirements for the existing functionality. As always, testing is under intense time pressure.

Identify areas that would be suitable for concrete test cases and areas where logical test cases would be sufficient.
